The HTC Touch Diamond looks amazingly stunning with its sultry appeal and stylish touch screen. Other desirable features include a cool 3D interface, Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 3.2-megapixel camera with Flash.

On the downside, it looks somewhat sluggish. Call quality too is below par. However, I hope HTC resolves some of the performance issues many experienced before the smartphone is released in the USA.

Gadgets are no more a man’s corner. Today, woman from all walks of life are buying almost all sort of electronic gadgets. This increasing hegemony of women into hitherto male dominated arena is indicative of a new era in global electronics scenario.

A recent study revealed that gender gap isn’t very wide when it comes to gadgets.

Eighty-eight percent of men and 82% of women say they’re interested in consumer electronics. The survey also revealed that women are more likely to have certain items in the house including cell phones, televisions, digital video recorders, MP3 players as well as car video entertainment systems.

Experts say manufacturers know this, and are taking heed.

From slim and sleek cameras small enough to fit in a pocket or purse, to Bluetooth technology that meets the needs of a women on the go.

Perhaps, convenience is just one of the reasons some of the latest gadgets work well for women.

Any institution that lasts 50 years would have its share of highs and lows, but those of the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford have stretched from searching out long lost wreckage at the bottom of the ocean to investigating the rarefied heights of Einsteinian physics in orbit. Roughly 500 alumni, students, faculty and staff gathered during a recent weekend to swap those and other recollections, as they celebrated their collective half-century of adventure in academic aerospace.

“This is one of the top-ranked AA departments in the country, and has been for a number of years,” noted Jim Plummer, dean of the School of Engineering, in his welcoming remarks. “There is so much to be proud of in this department. There is a rich history and a rich set of opportunities for the future.”

The three-day event put both AA’s future and history on display, coupling graduate student posters explaining current research with a symposium featuring accomplished faculty and alumni. Those speakers ranged from entrepreneurs with scrappy startups to venerated leaders at the top of their fields.

4. Fujitsu wooden laptop: Fujitsu has designed a laptop PC with a case manufactured from wood rather than the more traditional plastic or metal. The laptop, which is only a prototype, uses cedar wood for the case and also makes use of bio-plastics for parts. The wood PC is only a concept and Fujitsu has no plans to put it on sale.

A NASA researcher has found that some computer programs that predict the human body’s ability to withstand automobile crashes can also apply to helicopters.

Twenty-eight-year-old Yvonne Fuchs of NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va., wrote about her conclusions in a technical paper that has received a prestigious award at an international conference in Montreal. Fuchs won the Robert L. Lichten Award from the American Helicopter Society for “Vertical Drop Testing and Analysis of the WASP Helicopter Skid Gear.”

Her research concluded that automotive developed passenger models can be used in aerospace applications to determine how the human body will respond in a crash, even one that involves a vertical impact.

Fuchs is obviously very excited to get the award.
